Hugh Cook's science fiction novel The Shift was first published in 1986 and has been out of print for many years. A new edition is now in progress. Once the new edition has been published and is on sale on Amazon.com, excerpts will be posted on this website. The Shift is a short, fast-paced SF novel dealing with, amongst other things, an alien race known as the Spang and a machine which can change reality. The new edition will replicate the text of the original edition. Note that this book deals, to some degree, with mature themes, and contains a certain amount of sexual content.
